Mercredi/Wednesday 15.01.2014

C’est marqué à l’entrée : « No pets » (pas d’animaux), « No  smoking » et « No camera ».

Wednesday 15.01.2014

Jens coughs a little less but I 'm not in good shape. This will pass eventually.
Breakfast the six of us then the "workers" go. It is understood that the car will come back for me at 11:30am to take me to eat lunch with them and then I will accompany Lars and half of the students who go on a field trip on the shore of a lake. The other half went there yesterday.
I give a laundry washing at the hotel reception and ask them to telephone "my" taxi driver to cancel today's ride, he was supposed to come and pick me up at 3:00 pm.
I walk to Junction Centre Mall. It is large and modern. Several clothing stores, flowers, bags and even a store selling wines and spirits. And above, a very well stocked supermarket, food, clothing, things for the home, appliances, books, music ... There are big posters at the entrance : " No pets ", " No Smoking" and "No camera ". I buy 4 oranges, a bilingual Myanmar -English book and ... a Sudoku. The choice of sarongs and blouses is impressive and colorful. Nobody looks at me, then I take a photo.
I return to the hotel (500 m) and the driver takes me to the institute. We lunch only three of us, Lars, Jens and me at the same restaurant as yesterday. A plate of rice and three accompaniments for 5,000 kyat ($ 5). Lars pays generously but, as a joke, we say that we can invite him for the same amount of money in Bergen, he may have a glass of water for that price.
Then we leave with a truck-bus, Lars, half of the students, a driver and me. Being the oldest
(and a women), I have the best seat in front next to the driver. And I 'm the only one to enjoy his favorite music, local, modern and not unpleasant music.
We leave Nay Pyi Taw and drive to a lake called Nga Laik. The road passes through quite poor villages but always in the shade of large trees. Most houses are made of wood nicely carved. Near a school, dozens of bikes are waiting for their owners to finish their classes.
We arrive at the dam and the lake after about an hour. Very nice landscape, very peaceful. A hotel is located on the banks of the lake and this is where Lars installed a station yesterday. This hotel consists of eight old houses that were disassembled in another area and reassembled here, very nice houses, modernized of course. Lars makes his students work and I walk a bit and take pictures. Then we are served coffee, tea and a small snack.
An old (actually he is younger than me!) retired engineer who worked with seismic instruments joined our tour. I want to give him my place in the truck but he refuses. I found again my place, my driver and his music.
We come to the institute to 4:30, and until the course finishes, I show pictures on my camera to Yin Yin. She admires Theo, of course, and shows me a picture of her three years old niece that I admire too.
So blog and diner.
